Take 60 seconds to set up Skill Endorsements on your profile so that other people can endorse your skills.
Framework Note
Endorsements are most useful when they reinforce the skills that matter to your LinkedIn® purpose. Ten endorsements for a skill that is peripheral to your current goals can be less useful than a smaller number attached to the expertise you want employers, clients or peers to associate with you.
This is especially relevant to Reputation → Establishing Credibility. Read: Building Credibility on LinkedIn®.
Example of Skill Endorsements
Below you can see Leadership listed in my Skills Section which shows:
- 16 Colleagues have endorsed me
- 8 People have endorsed me in the last 6 months
How to Activate Skill Endorsements
- Click your photo
- Click View profile
- Scroll down to Skills Section
- Click the pencil icon
- Click … icon
- Click Endorsement Settings
- Activate settings
- Click Save

You will receive a notification whenever someone endorses one of your skills. You will be promoted to “Say Thanks” via LinkedIn® messages. Be sure to say thanks.
Everytime you endorse a persons skill they will receive a notification. It’s a powerful way to put you on the radar of a connection, colleague, or client. Get into the habit of endorsing skills regularly.
