Your LinkedIn® Company Page About section should help an unfamiliar visitor understand the organization quickly. It is not the place to paste a corporate mission statement simply because one already exists.

Answer the visitor’s questions

A useful description should make it easy to understand what the organization does, who it helps or serves, where it operates when geography matters, and what makes its offer or expertise distinctive.

Lead with meaning

Do not spend the opening lines saying that the organization is passionate, innovative or committed to excellence. Start with information. Tell the reader what business you are in and why the organization is relevant to them.

Expert Tip

Read your About section as somebody who has never heard of the company. If they cannot quickly work out what you do, who you do it for and why that matters, familiarity with your own business may be hiding weak copy.

Write for people and discoverability

Use recognizable terms for your services, products, sectors and expertise naturally. The objective is clarity, not repetition. A well-written description can simultaneously help a person understand the company and give search systems stronger signals about what it does.

Keep claims supportable

Statements such as “leading”, “best” or “world-class” are easy to write and difficult to make meaningful. Prefer specific evidence: markets served, established capabilities, scale, specialist expertise or other verifiable distinctions.

Finish with a useful next step

If appropriate, tell the visitor what to do next: explore the website, follow the Page, contact the organization, view services or take another relevant action. The Page’s call to action can support this.

Your task

Rewrite the opening 300 characters of your current description without using vague claims. Make sure an unfamiliar reader can identify what the organization does and who it serves. Then review the rest of the description for useful evidence, important search language and unnecessary corporate filler.
